Zach is from one of our new church plants in Akron, Ohio. He is a new brother in Christ. Every Tuesday Zach and I get burritos at the Chipotle on West Market Street in Akron. Over the past few months, we’ve been investing in William. He is currently homeless and often stands in front of the restaurant.
This past Tuesday, Zach and I couldn’t find William. So we asked the employees if anyone had seen him, and nobody did. After a few minutes, William came running in the front door out of breath and was so relieved to find out he didn’t miss us. William had spent the night in jail for breaking into an abandoned house for shelter. He said his fear was he would not make it in time for “burritos and bible.”
It moves my heart to see two men so excited about the time we spend together every week. Zach texts me every Monday to make sure we’re meeting the next day. You see, I’m not naturally a “shepherd.” These men are challenging me in that area and I love it. The way these guys go after each other is rare in the world we plant churches in. It’s awesome!
Will you pray for Zach and William? Pray for their walks with Jesus. Pray that they are continually excited about Jesus and our time together. Pray for Akron, that many churches would be planted through SEEDNet.
