Few things in life are imperative for our souls.
The following message IS.
Jeremiah 31:3 says, “The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
In our performance-driven world, it’s easy to think that our relationship with God is also built on our performance.
BUT IT’S NOT!!!
Our relationship with God is built on His everlasting love. We didn’t do anything to deserve God’s love and we can’t do anything to keep it. He continues in His love and faithfulness to us simply because He is loving and faithful.
Your good performance today does NOT increase God’s love for you, and your bad performance does NOT decrease His love for you. He has loved you with an everlasting love that is completely dependent on Himself.
Your good performance today does NOT increase God’s faithfulness toward you, and your bad performance does NOT decrease His faithfulness toward you. He is faithful to you because He loves you forever- period. That’s who He is.
Freedom, rest, dependence and worship are things you will enjoy if you believe this. …Freedom from performing for God. …Rest from constant striving. …Dependence on the King of heaven and earth whose love for you and faithfulness toward you will NEVER change. …Worship, because He is the ONLY ONE who truly loves you unconditionally.
So, let’s commit our souls to His everlasting love and faithfulness today – not to our own performance!
